The Principal and the Academic Secretary

Principal:

The principal is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for:

    1. the proper administrative performance of all financial and administrative divisions of the University;
    2. the co-ordination of the University central and administrative and financial functions of the Faculties and Units;
    3. presiding over the Building Committee, the Grounds and Gardens Committee and other administrative or financial committee as may from time to time be determined;
    4. having the custody of the University Common Seal and shall affix it to documents in accordance with the directions of the Council;
    5. having the custody of records, registers and title deeds of the University and such other property of the University as may be determined from time to time by the Vice-Chancellor.

 

The Deputy Principal:

The Principal has a deputy in each campus. The Deputy Pricipal is appointed by the Chancellor on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor for a period of two years and shall be eligible for reappointment.

 

Academic Secretary:

  1. The Academic Secretary is appointed by the Council on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor
  2. The Academic Secretary works under the supervision of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and is responsible to him and through him to the Vice-Chancellor for the proper performance of the general administration of the University’s academic affairs.
  3. The functions and duties of the Academic Secretary are described by the regulations
  4. The period of the appointment of the Academic Secretarty is determined by the Statues.
