The Faculty of Science was established as a Higher School in the year 1937 and it embodied five departments, which were the Departments of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
(When Gordon's Memorial College became Khartoum University College, all its Higher Schools became independent Faculties.)
In 1958 the Department of Geology was established, and in 1978 the Department Mathematics seperated and became the School of Mathematical Sciences (which is now the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences).
The Faculty of Science administers the Natural History Museum.
The Faculty of Science offers both post-graduate and under-graduate degrees.The Faculty offers courses for first degrees leading to the following qualifications:
