A School of Arts was established in the year 1902 and it embodied a department for training teachers. It also contained a department for Judges that became independent in 1912.
When Gordon's Memorial College became Khartoum University College, the School of Arts became the Faculty of Arts. It is considered as one of the largest faculties of the University.
The Faculty of Arts offers both Post-Graduate and under-graduate degrees.
The Faculty of Arts offers courses for first degrees leading to the following qualifications:
The Bachelor of Arts (General) Degree of the University of Khartoum
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree of the University of Khartoum
