Sudan offers 250 mln pounds reward for the arrest of JEM leader The Sudanese armed forces say it will offer for any one who arrests or gives information that lead to arrest the JEM leader, Khalid Ibrahim, who is supposed to be hiding in Khartoum, according to the report. Earlier Sunday the Sudanese authorities said that JEM leader was injured and his vehicle received a direct hit during the Saturday fighting in Omdurman, northwestern Khartoum. Following some five hours of violent fighting in Omdurman, The Sudanese government announced on Saturday evening that the army and the police had crushed the attempt of the JEM rebels to infiltrate into the capital and carry out destructive activities there, killing and capturing a number of the infiltrators. This was the first time for rebels in Darfur to enter Khartoum and launch attacks since bloody conflicts erupted in the western Sudanese region neighboring Chad in February, 2003. |
