![]() President, 6 April, 1985 - 6 May, 1986 Abdulrahman Siwar Al-Dhab - (1930 - ) - A sudanese political leader. Born in the town of Al-Obeid in 1930. He graduated from the Sudanese Military Academy. He became a prominent figure when former president Gaafar Numeiry appointed him chief of staff, and then minister of defence and general commander of the armed forces in 1984. After the popular uprising (Intifada)(April 1985) he became the chairman of the transitional military council. As promised, he respectfully surrendered power to the elected government of Sadiq Al-Mahdi in 1986. In 1987 he became chairman of the Islamic call organization. He still holds that post. |
