A reliable source told Sudan Safari that the army vowed to teach Minnawi led faction a hard lesson.
The army has pursued the fleeing rebels and confronted with them at Hijir Tuno, South Darfur where the movement lost three senior field commanders. One of the rebel commanders has admitted that they have never had such loss.
Since 2010, Minnawi led faction has become ineffective due to the repeated defeats and defections of fighters and commanders, a source at Liberation and Justice Movement, who declined to be named told Sudan Safari.
The remaining faction is neither militarily nor politically significant. It has becomes security hazards rather than representatives of the Darfuri people.
The movement has lost safe heaven and foreign support, so it has become vulnerable to attack. The second factor is expected to force many fighters to desert the movement, although senior leaders have bank accounts in Juba, Kampala and Australia.
The leaders of other movements, Jibreel Ibrahim and Abdel Wahid Nur are critical of Minnawi, labeling him as moody and weak.
In 2006, were not of the Sudanese army intervention Minnawi's faction would have been eliminated from the theatre by Justice and Equality Movement. |
