Sudan, South South to Go Far in Economic Ties SUNA - March 28
Khartoum – Minister of Trade Osman Omer Al Sharif said Sudan will seek to boost foreign trade with South Sudan including border trade between the two countries which will also thrive after the implementation of the matrix.
He told SUNA that border trade with countries such as Chad and Eritrea will also go up and that will improve stability, stating that efforts are continuing to open new markets for Sudanese exports.
Governor of Bank of Sudan, Dr. Sabir Mohamed Al Hassan also highlighted the border trade boom between Sudan and South Sudan after the signing of the matrix, adding that the two countries share 2000 km long border which is the longest border in Africa and is rich in mineral and animal resources.
He urged to two countries to make use of the geographical dimension to exchange commercial benefits. He said South Sudan depends on Sudan by 75% for its commodities and services.
Export Development Bank manager, Dr. Mohamed Al Rashid said in press statements to SUNA that urgent protocols will be signed between the two countries to boost border trade between the two nations. He expected trade between the two countries to generate two billion dollars.
