In an interview with the Egyptian newspaper, Al-Shoroaq, published yesterday, the Ambassador said, "We are very concerned by the presence of these armed movements in Cairo, knowing that they do not receive military support from Egypt, but their presence provide them with political cover, which is a cause of concern for us."
He pointed out that the movements' statements in Egypt about Kampala document to overthrow the regime might lead to tension in the relations and makes us deal with it sensitively.
"We do not object to Egypt's hosting of any peaceful opposition, but to open the door for those who have taken up arms to overthrow the government is unacceptable," Ambassador Ali said.
"These groups are talking about Kampala Document, which seeks to break up the Sudanese army and institutions, in other words, they are talking about the overthrow of the central state in Sudan. Is this acceptable to Egypt?"
On the problem of Halaib and Shalatin, the Ambassador said, "We will not allow this issue to disrupt relationship between the two countries, so we presented a vision for the need to resolve these problems within a friendly framework, and it will continue to be a problem, but through brotherhood and popular determination, boundaries will not divide us." |
