Al Bashir Commends Stances of Qatar Regarding Sudan Issues SUNA - February 24
Khartoum- President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir commended the stances of the State of Qatar, and especially the stances of Prince Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, regarding Sudanese issues in international conventions and meetings.
He also commended the great role played Qatari investments in Sudan and welcomed head of the Qatari businessmen association Faisal Al Thani and his investments in Sudan.
Following the meeting of the Qatari businessmen delegation with the president at the Hospitality House in the presence of the Qatari ambassador to Sudan Rashid Bin Abdulrahman, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, Minister of Higher Investment, said the president had directed the Higher Investment Council and all concerned authorities to provide all possible facilitation and create an investment friendly environment for the Qatari and all investors.
Faisal told the President that his group of companies wants to invest in different sectors and that several Arab investors told him they would like to come to Sudan for investment given that Sudan has large reserves of natural resources and an environment that encourages investment.
Minister of Investment said the head of the Qatari Businessmen Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding today with the Higher Investment Council to invest in the fields of mining, banking, agriculture, hotel services, and other areas as well. The minister added that Al Thani reviewed the new investment law and commended it at the meeting with the president of the republic and said the coming stage will witness the implementation of several Qatari investment projects in Sudan.
Regarding the problems and obstacles hindering investment in Sudan, Dr. Mustafa said the higher investment council and the national investment body devised a plan according to which high ranking government officials will intervene immediately should any problems arise and cannot be solved at the lower levels, saying that all the previous complaints have now diminished or totally disappeared.
He also reaffirmed the resolve of the higher investment council to remove all of the obstacles hindering investment in the country.
"The council has formed a committee to look into all the former problems to deal with them and make sure they do not arise again," he added.
