The delegation, whose senior members include Yassir Arman and Malik Agar, met with the U.S. envoy Princeton Lyman, who told them that the Obama administration leans towards a political resolution which means laying down arms.
Lyman said that he will leave his position by the end of January, and that he has prepared a detailed report, on Sudanese issues. He called on the SPLM/N to renounce violence and commit to peaceful means through serious negotiations with the government, as that is the only accepted method for the Obama administration.
On Yassir Arman’s demand for Washington to pressure Khartoum regarding Blue Nile and South Kordofan in the negotiations’ tracks, Lyman said that the Obama administration believes the ongoing tracks are acceptable.
