Sudan Approaches Stage of Oil Export-Minister
MENAFN -  January 05
(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Sudanese Oil Minister Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz said his country has approached the stage of oil export during the coming period to compensate all losses resulting from the separation of oil-rich state of South Sudan.

Sudan has lost about 37 percent of oil revenues after the secession of the south on the ninth of July of 2011. Sudan now produces about 118 thousand barrels per day while its production before the secession of the south was 459 thousand bpd.

In a statements published today, Al-Jaz said the reality of Sudan's oil is reassuring and promising, pointing out that researches and scientific exploratory studies came out with positive results that oil exists in 40% of the area of Sudan.

With regard to the production of gas, Al-Jaz explained that it was extracted in Heglig area, where it is being used locally for the benefit of electricity.
South Sudan has 75 percent of Sudan's oil resources in the pre-partition, but it needs to be extended oil pipelines in Sudan for export.
