Juba — The President of the Republic H.E. Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed leaders of the Muslim Community in the Republic of South Sudan to double their efforts in resolving all the administrative and internal issues facing the Muslim Community. Particularly, he urged them not to use religion for political purposes.

 

President Kiir made the remarks during a meeting he held today with the Muslim Community delegation headed by Gen. Tahir Bior Ajak, the Secretary General of South Sudan Muslim Council, and Sultan Abdulbagi Ayii, the chairman of Muslim Counsel (known as El- Shura). The meeting mainly discussed administrative issues facing the ongoing activities of the Muslims besides minor differences between the Secretary General of Muslim Council and the Council of Shura.

The Muslim Community leaders appreciated the President of the Republic and his government for taking Muslim community issues into the consideration and for supporting them in resolving their own problems.

The Secretary General of the Muslim Council in South Sudan Gen. Tahir Bior Ajak announced to the press after the meeting that the two bodies of the Muslim community, the Muslim Council and the Muslim Counsel (known as Shura) have agreed today before the President of the Republic in the spirit of brotherhood and reconciliation to discard all the differences and work together in preaching peace and unity among the people of the new state of South Sudan.

On his part the chairman of Islamic Counsel, Sultan Abdilbagi Ayii announced that the Islamic Counsel general conference will soon be held in Juba to discuss all the internal and administrative problems facing the Muslim Community.
