Kiir Directs Team to Conclude Negotiations in Addis
Government of South Sudan (Juba) -  November 25
Juba — The negotiating team of the Republic of South Sudan, heading to Addis Ababa under the leadership of the SPLM Secretary General Mr. Pagan Amum has received strong directives from the President of the Republic H.E Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit to negotiate with Khartoum Government on all the outstanding and arising issues so that there is peace between the two countries.

 


This was disclosed by Mr. Amum shortly after his meeting today on Friday November 25th, 2011 with President of the Republic H.E Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit. Mr. Amum further said the SPLM is heading to Addis Ababa with a clear directive from its leadership and having a comprehensive package of negotiating points with Khartoum Government and aiming at achieving the return of Abyei to South Sudan, border demarcation according to 1 January 1956, peaceful commercial and economic relations and South Sudan to continue exporting its oil through the Republic of Sudan on basis of paying the charges according to the existing agreement without any changes and discrimination.

The SPLM Secretary General and chairperson of the negotiating team Mr. Amum revealed that the team is heading to Addis Ababa to make sure that the Sudan Government has stopped its aggressive practices against the sovereignty of South Sudan and stop supporting militia groups in Unity and Upper Nile states, adding that South Sudan is ready to help the Republic of Sudan financially in order to fill its financial gaps. He concluded that the new state is committed to peaceful negotiations with Khartoum and that the team is going to Addis Ababa on invitation extended by the AU/HIP to resume the negotiations with the Khartoum Government.
