The following is the text of the speech: In the name of God the Merciful, and blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, I am in fact happy to be with you in Juba today and happy to meet you and to meet the largest number of leaders at their official and popular level to say words and that we renew our mission and we say that our calling was really a message peace, and if people went back to our speeches from the first day we took over the power, the first objective of all of our goals was always the peace and that we have stated clearly that Sudan is suffering from many political, economic, social and security problems but all these problems was caused by the ongoing war in the south and to solve Sudan’s problems we have to remove the cause of the problems which is the war and that Sudan's problems could be solved far from the peace, that we have peace as a strategic objective of the first day we came. People remember that we said in our first speech that we have come for peace and we started our efforts from the first day even before the announcement of the formation of the Council of Ministers and tried to contact the movement and did not find a way to that, there were no lines of communication established between the government and the movement, not the previous government and not when we arrived and we searched for a way to the movement and actually in the end we contacted the movement by the Ethiopian government and we organized preliminary negotiations, we were new and our experience has been weak, but we have benefited from our primary talks that we must have a clear program for peace as long as we want negotiate and our goal is peace, for that we had to have a program of peace, within two months of taking power we have organized the national dialogue on peace issues, in this same conference if the names of participants were reviewed, we will find people with the unity and against the movement and there are people in Khartoum and with the Movement and with the war, and many sat outside waiting for the radio and talked about the fall of the government today and today Thursday the statement would broadcasted. In this circumstance, we hold the conference where the dialogue was very excellent, in the first day the dialogue was really bad, but it gave people a chance to vent and get all the hot air in their, and then people spoke with realism and responsibility and seriousness, so we had a clear program for peace at the beginning of the conference and then we went to Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Abuja One and Abuja Two and we went to Frankfurt. All of this was based on the outcomes of the national dialogue conference and for the first time the conference recommends the application of federal system, we finally accepted the recommendations of the Conference and declared our acceptance of the rule of the federal governance which has been the demand of the people of the south since Juba Conference in 1947. We arrived Naivasha which people know its details and the patience to dialogue and negotiation in Naivasha continued many years and we had the stage to complement the peace process and raised the level of the interlocutors, so the direct meeting was headed by the First Vice-President at that time, Ali Osman Mohammed Taha and the brother of late John Garang, head of the movement, and they sat three or four days, and came with a document and there was the long dialogue until we reached the peace agreement in all its details and complexity. Now I can say we've achieved a success as there is no 100% success and I say we are now being crossed all these stages while the people expected the deterioration of the situation at any time and there are people who do not want the continuation of the things, they want problems and headlines and news because bad news is news, such as the English say (no news is good news), but our brothers in the mass media think that the good news is no news, they want problems, beatings, war and murder for the headlines and news and picturing by the satellite channels, but we have disappointed thought of all the people who do not want the continuation of this matter and they would reached to nothing due to the size difference that existed between them. But we have come with conviction and even we came to the most difficult item is an item of self-determination with conviction and we have lived with the attempt to impose the unity by force since 55, what was the result? I say if we measure the southern public opinion toward the unity of Sudan or to their brothers in the north, we will find it very high; it will be 90%, what turned this ratio with time? Because the war is grievances, the war means murder, arson, destruction and more injustice and hatred, our opinion was that the attempt to impose the unity by force failed and the result was opposite, more spacing and hatred between the sons of one homeland, it was necessary to make the unity an optional and was thought the fact that what has been achieved in the South as a region and people of the south of the gains from the peace agreement was enough to reassure them, they are in country where they take all their rights, but that there is a view that they took more than their rights, they have been separated by the rule of the south and participating in the governance of the north by 30% through the federal government, but we said we are the dowry of the unity no matter what many, and we were convinced that the unity is better for the citizens of Sudan in the north and south, and the best for the north and south, we said our position, we do not make political speculation, those who make that have an opinion when they are in the opposition and have another view when they are in the government, all the political forces should have conviction on the self-determination and not come out for people who met in Asmara at the crucial issues or people who were in the Government of National Unity in Khartoum as we on both sides agreed to give citizens the right to self-determination, when we signed the agreement to commit by, as we are the people of commitments and obligations, and we are committed to, but we will continue to advocate the unity because our conviction that the unity is the interest, power, security and progress and development of all the people of Sudan, but welcome to the desire of citizens, but we all know of the size of the interdependence and overlap of interests between the North and the South exist between that not existed between any two states in the world. I spoke with our brothers, how to reduce possible negative aspects of separation if it happens and is it possible that the benefits achievable through unity could achieved through the establishment of two states? as an example for that European model who fought and brought the rest of the people in their war and they called it the World War which were not a global war not a first or second, it is an European war but because they are masters of the world they said a world war where millions of people were killed, but they sat down now because they realized that the war does not come with usefulness for any warrior, so they established the European Union, created interests and advanced. Our interests are well known, but how the two sides sit down to discuss and look for our interests and maximize interest in our cooperation for the benefit of both sides. We are ready in the federal government, after separation there will be no federal government and we will come to celebrate with you and do not think that you would invite the states here while we are in consolation, we will not do that, yes there will be sadness because Sudan is divided, but I will be happy if we are, after the referendum and the establishment of the two countries have achieved the real and the final peace for the Sudan on both sides for the benefit of every citizen in the north and south and the start of a new development for the two parties, we were in need of peace, we were in need of our scarce assets in the north and south to to build our country and its reconstruction and advancement. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who stood with us and supported us and helped us and participated with us and opened their land and their country and their countries and their offices for us to reach peace and we say they had a very big role for the facilities and patience upon us and we have reached this stage and we are now almost in the final stage and all things gone smoothly despite the flaw that happened in the application of the law with its specific times, but we are also practical people, the times were done with certain procedures. Now, the first stage of the registration was completed in smooth way and we are on the verge of a very important stage which can be called two stages: The first one is the actual voting at the ballot box and the second phase: the announcement of the result was announced, we, the people of Sudan are a civilized people, in previous elections some people thought that the result will be just as what happened in some countries and our brothers in the media who are sitting now mobilized the same crowd to portray the conflict, killing, destruction and the fires but the civilized Sudanese people disappointed them, now many people came to shoot the same scenes, we want to let them down again and to give them the second lesson, we are a civilized people, whatever the results and the painful procedures and surgery, we can overcome it with tolerance and patience and to accept the results and I assure you we are with your choice, even if after the establishment of the state of the south, you will find us as we are, we are ready to provide anything required, any technical support, logistics, consulting, experience or training or otherwise, we see that the new state of the South if it was founded, is in need of technical and logistical support and many other things, we have the priority to provide such support and we want all these measures to be done smoothly and without problems, we want all the people to vote, whether in the south or outside the south without any impediments and we will applaud the desire of the citizen the southern and ask God Almighty to avoid our country the temptations and that the result will be goodness and blessing to the people of Sudan, wherever they are May Allah reward you |
